Effective treatment for IBS-C
We aimed to understand how Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus IDCC 3201 (RH 3201) affects irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) through a thorough study. In a randomized, double-blind trial, 30 participants took either RH 3201 or a placebo for 8 weeks.

Those taking RH 3201 experienced significant improvements, including fewer bowel discomforts and reduced bloating issues. We also observed an increase in certain beneficial gut bacteria and a link between specific metabolites and symptom relief. Overall, RH 3201 shows promise as an effective treatment for IBS-C.

Probiotics effectively relieve IBS symptoms
This randomized, double-blind study looked at how two probiotic strains, DDS-1 and UABla-12, could help people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). We found that both probiotics notably reduced abdominal pain and other IBS symptoms compared to a placebo after six weeks.

Specifically, DDS-1 showed a significant improvement, with over half of participants reporting relief. UABla-12 also had promising results, helping about a quarter of those in its group. Throughout the study, we observed better stool consistency and overall quality of life for participants taking these probiotics versus those on placebo.

Lactobacillus drink benefits IBS-C
We explored the impact of a Lactobacillus-containing cultured milk drink on individuals with constipation-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-C). Over 30 days, participants consumed this drink daily while we assessed their clinical symptoms and inflammatory markers.

Impressively, 97.4% reported improvement in symptoms, along with noticeable reductions in intestinal transit time and fecal pH. Evidence also showed lowered levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in IBS-C participants, supporting potential adjunctive benefits of this treatment for IBS-C patients.

Effective probiotic IBS treatment
This randomized, single-blinded trial evaluated the impact of probiotics, specifically Lactobacillus acidophilus and plantarum, on patients with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D).

We found that when added to standard IBS treatment, these probiotics significantly improved symptoms over a 12-week period.

Group B, the probiotic group, experienced better results, including fewer days with pain and greater satisfaction with bowel habits. While both groups saw reductions in IBS severity, the probiotics led to complete remission in many patients, which is promising for future treatment guidelines.

Bifidobacterium lactis improves IBS symptoms
We examined the effectiveness of Neobiotic Lactobalance®, a probiotic containing Bifidobacterium lactis, in alleviating symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) with diarrhea and antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) in 54 patients.

Over 21 days, participants reported significant symptom relief, with scores for diarrhea and abdominal pain dropping noticeably, indicating improved gut health.

This study highlights how Bifidobacterium lactis can help restore intestinal balance and potentially provide relief from gastrointestinal distress in affected patients.

Synbiotics improved IBS-D symptoms
We investigated how a synbiotic supplement, which combines various probiotic strains and fructooligosaccharides, influences symptoms in adults suffering from diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D).

In a well-structured study involving eighty participants, half received the synbiotics while the others got a placebo for eight weeks.

The results showed significant improvement in symptom severity, particularly regarding flatulence and bowel movements, with no notable side effects. This indicates that synbiotics can genuinely help alleviate issues for those with IBS-D.
7
Probiotics modestly improve IBS
We examined the effects of a combination of Lactobacillus acidophilus CL1285 and other probiotics compared to a placebo in treating irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Over 12 weeks, 113 participants reported significant improvements in abdominal pain, stool consistency, and overall quality of life.

Interestingly, those with diarrhea-predominant IBS and female participants noticed the most benefits. Though there were some mild adverse effects, serious issues were not reported. Overall, while some gains were observed, pain intensity and a few symptom relief measures did not show substantial improvement.
7
Probiotics show mixed IBS benefits
We conducted a study to evaluate the effects of two probiotics, NORDBIOTIC™ BI040 and NORDBIOTIC™ BC300, on individuals with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Involving 123 participants diagnosed using standardized criteria, the research was carefully designed as a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial over a 12-week period.

While both probiotics significantly improved IBS symptoms over time, the differences between the treatment and placebo were not statistically significant at first. However, noteworthy improvements were noticed during follow-up, particularly in pain reduction and bowel satisfaction, showcasing the varied benefits of each strain. Importantly, both treatments were safely tolerated by patients involved in the trial.
5
Probiotics improve diarrhea in IBS
We evaluated how a multi-species probiotic mixture influences symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial with 81 participants. While the probiotic group showed a notable increase in good bacteria and a higher percentage of patients reporting symptom relief, overall changes in total symptom scores did not differ significantly between the probiotic and placebo groups. Notably, we found that the probiotics improved diarrhea symptoms over the trial period.
